Crazy for Wild Rice

I can't believe we are coming to the end of the Ultimate Vegan Contest Month already!  It's gone by so fast.  Another amazing participant and generous donor to this contest is New West's latest culinary addition Wild Rice.

Wild Rice is the cool kid on the restaurant block.  It's the one you want to hang out with, the one you wish would invite you to parties.  With it's slick looks, cool staff (and by cool I certainly don't mean cold) and it's melt in your mouth delicacies this restaurant is currently THE evening dining hot spot in New West.

Have I mentioned the customer service is superb?  Follow them on twitter at @wildricebc and if you have any questions or comments they will always get back to you promptly.  Also I filled in a comment card the other day and for my birthday they sent me a $15 gift card with a little note!  I don't think I've ever felt so appreciated by a fine dining establishment before.  I truly believe it's the little touches that count and help create loyal brand ambassadors.

Another reason that attracts me to Wild Rice is that their menu is 40% vegan.  They don't really talk about it very much which I find fascinating, it's almost like it happened by accident.  Oops we made super tasty food and look at that it just happens to be mostly vegan!  My only complaint is that when they first opened they had an extensive, fabulous vegan dessert menu.  I had a peanut butter chocolate dessert there that I would have moved in with and married.  It was that good.  But now they don't seem to have very many non-dairy dessert options.  Bring them back I say!

If you are looking for someplace with a great atmosphere to chill out with friends or a romantic place to have dinner while overlooking the Fraser River, look no further than the dining wonderland that is Wild Rice.  You won't be disappointed!

Tell Your Friends About Crepe Des Amis

Four words.  French. Onion. Soup. Crepe.

Seriously, how does Li Lee come up with these recipes?  I was skeptical at first as it's not the first thing I would put in a crepe but Li Lee convinced me to try it and I was blown away at the delicious flavour combination!

Funny thing is, I should have known it would be wonderful because not only are Li Lee and Alain becoming known for their incredibly friendly service their crepes are always delicious too.  I especially love that each month has a different theme and they always have a special crepe for vegans which I really appreciate and look forward to tasting.

I know I've talked about Crepe Des Amis before on my blog and I talk about them all the time on twitter and Facebook so you may think I'm a little biased.  Perhaps I'm getting bribed with free crepes?  So if you don't believe me perhaps you'll believe these amazing reviews they've been getting from fans other than myself!

If you've been to their eatery and you've tasted their wares why not spread the love and share a review?  We need to support stellar restaurants and the best way to do that is by telling everyone that Crepe Des Amis is the go to place for fabulous food.

Don't forget this is the final weekend for the Ultimate Vegan Getaway Contest be sure to visit Crepe Des Amis and get your New Veganminster Passport stamped!

Fraser River Bike Tours & Rentals

Not only is Tom Littlewood of Fraser River Bike Tours & Rentals a dedicated entrepreneur he's also an avid cycling advocate.  He works tirelessly to create a cycling friendly New Westminster, to develop new and safe riding trails and he's also passionate about introducing teens to the art of cycling.

Fraser River Bike Tours & Rentals is a wonderful addition to the River Market at Westminster Quay.  Just when you've had your fill of food in the Market, Tom is there to take you on a scenic two hour tour of the mighty Fraser River.  Bike tours are a fantastic way to enjoy our local wildlife, there are plenty of Eagles, Herons and sea creatures to see along your trek making this trip a great value for your money.

Their guides are knowledgeable in local First Nation History, the salmon runs in the Fraser and local rivers and the area's history of colonization. They also are seasoned riders, have their first aid and carry radios and cell phones. The folks over at Fraser River Bikes know what it takes to provide you with a safe, fun and informative ride no matter what your riding level may be. They outfit your group with bikes, helmets and raingear if needed.

I am very lucky to have Tom on board for the Ultimate Vegan Getaway Contest, he has generously donated a tour for the lucky winners and I'm jealous as I can't wait to take part in a tour one day soon!
